November 25, 2014  – Shurat HaDin, an Israeli NGO dedicated to fighting terrorism by legal means, announced last week that a US court has given the go-ahead for the families of 11 American victims of terror attacks carried out in Israel during the second intifada to sue the Palestinian Authority (PA) for the deaths of their relatives.

Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, founder of Shurat HaDin and attorney representing the plaintiffs, gives host Allison Kaplan Sommer the background to these cases. Shurat HaDin claims that after investigation it was found that all these attacks were carried out by PA agents, so the PA should clearly be liable for civil suits. Ten years since the filing of the case, the District Court for the Southern District of New York agreed, and the case is finally going to trial by jury in January. Darshan-Leitner is confident that proceedings will start on time.
