Israeli restaurateurs and cousins Motti Dayan and Etgar Zeitouny were abducted by Palestinian gunmen on January 23rd, 2001, as they were enjoying dinner with their Arab Israeli friend on the outskirts of Tulkarem, a city in the West Bank.

The cousins were shopping for plants and decorations for the Sushi Bar they owned in Tel Aviv’s Sheinkin Street, named ‘Yuppies’. As they were eating, a masked gunmen heard of their presence in the town and shortly thereafter abducted them. The cousins, as well as the Arab-Israeli friend they were with, were dragged into the car and reportedly shot on the side of the road near the Nur Shams refugee camp. Their Arab-Israeli friend was let free.

The trial is currently ongoing.
