Shurat HaDin Petitions Israeli Supreme Court over Right of Jewish Families to Live in Jaffa |

August 20, 2009: Shurat HaDin - Israel Law Center has filed an appeal in the Israeli Supreme Court on behalf of a group of twenty Jewish families whose right to build homes in the coastal Israeli town of Jaffa is being challenged by a coalition of Arab-Israelis and politically-motivated NGOs. The coalition is demanding that the families, who won the right to build in a public auction of a plot of land, have their bid disqualified by the Supreme Court based solely upon the fact that they are Jewish and that their presence in Jaffa will tip the demographic balance of the neighborhood and discriminates against Arabs.

An End to Terror's Reign in Spain? |
July 19, 2009: In 2008, a Spanish court in Madrid opened a criminal investigation against Israeli military and political leaders for their role in the 2002 IDF missile attack that killed Salah Shehadeh, a Hamas terror mastermind, as well as 14 others who had refused to evacuate the building in which he was hiding. Employing the controversial legal principle known as "universal jurisdiction," the Spanish court insisted that it had the jurisdiction to indict and prosecute foreign leaders and army officers for alleged "war crimes" committed outside of Spain against non-Spanish citizens. |

Court Sanctions Arab Bank for Non-compliance |

June 22, 2009: Numerous victims of Palestinian terrorism filed lawsuits against the Arab Bank, one of the largest banking institutions in the Middle East, in 2004. The plaintiffs alleged that the bank had administered a Saudi-funded reward program that made cash payments to Palestinian terrorists who were killed in suicide attacks or captured by Israel's security forces.

A note from Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, June 4, 2009: In November 2002 I was invited to speak at Shaarei Shomayim Synagogue in Toronto. It was my first time visiting Canada and I was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic reception and the massive turnout I received for my presentation. I had no idea that the Toronto community was so energetic in its support of Israel. It was the midst of the Palestinian intiafada violence and the horrifying suicide bombings in Israel were a daily occurrence. |

Shurat haDin will Petition the Israeli Supreme Court - Oppose the Appointment of Farook Husseini |

May 26, 2009: Human rights organization Shurat ha Din (Israel Law Center) joins the growing protest against the decision of the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, to withdraw his objection to the appointment of Egyptian Culture Minister, Farook Husseini, to head UNESCO. The organization says that it will petition the Israeli Supreme Court if Netanyahu fails to challenge this outrageous appointment.
